King’s day is what it (Koningsdag) means in Dutch.
Last year it was my first year in The Netherlands so I wanted to discover it.
It was interesting to celebrate the special days here. I decided to start with something really typically Dutch, so I went to enjoy king’s day.
On king’s day everything is orange and there are parties and festivals everywhere on the streets all over the country. It was funny because I didn’t know the culture that much last year but I chose to wear orange clothes because I saw everyone did that. I celebrated in Utrecht with some friends from my Dutch course. It was so funny because everyone there was dancing and happy.
In the Netherlands they do not just celebrate the king’s birthday, they turned it into a great party including markets and festivals.
Happy King’s day everyone!
