‘Culture Shock’ is een pilot van een subproject van De Voorkamer. Een project waarin artiesten met diverse achtergronden worden uitgenodigd om samen te werken aan culturele en interdisciplinaire activiteiten. Het programma kent drie aspecten. We organiseren avonden waarbij professionele muzikanten hun bestaande werk delen met ons publiek ‘Culture Shock - Band’ of ‘Solo’. We brengen muzikanten en andere kunstenaars samen om zo nieuw werk te genereren en te presenteren tijdens ‘Culture Shock - Mash Up’ avonden.
Als laatste bieden we de mogelijkheid voor onze community om zelf in kennis en talent te delen in o.a. workshops en improvisatieavonden zoals On The Spot.
‘Cultue Shock - Mash Up’ avonden zijn experimentele multidisciplinaire muzikale avonden waarbij twee professionals uit de creatieve sector voor de eerste keer worden samengebracht. Ze bundelen hun talent en produceren samen muzikaal/visuele producties.
Onze eerste editie van ‘Cultue Shock - Mash Up’ brengt Turkse improvisatie muzikant Cengiz Arslapay samen met audio-visueel kunstenaar Kamiel Rongen.
Arslanplay creëert een combinatie van Oosterse microtonale tradities en hedendaagse muziek met zijn modulaire synthesiser en verzameling fluiten (o.a. Nay, Kaval en Duduk).
Kamiel Rongen vormt betoverende werelden van klanken en beelden door origineel werk te ontwikkelen bestaande uit muziek en de abstracte visualisatie van zijn eigen muzikale creaties.

'Culture Shock' is a pilot for a sub-project of De Voorkamer where artists with diverse backgrounds are invited to collaborate for intercultural and interdisciplinary activities. The program has three aspects of nights from professionals with their existing sets ('Culture Shock - Band' or 'Solo', professionals that meet each other for the first time 'Culture Shock - Match Up' and moments for the audience to share knowledge and talent themselves by joining workshops and improvisation evenings like ‘On The Spot’
'Culture Shock - Match Up’ evenings are experimental collaborative evenings around the theme of music where two creatives are brought together for the first time to connect their talents and create a new outcome.
Our first edition of talent mash-up brings Turkish performer and improviser Cengiz Arslanpay with Dutch audio-visual artist Kamiel Rongen on stage. Cengiz Arslanpay creates a combination of eastern microtonal traditions and contemporary music with his modular synthesizer and set of flutes such as nay, kaval, and duduk.
Kamiel Rongen constructs mesmerizing worlds of sounds and images by creating original pieces of music and visualizing the sounds in an abstract way.
