Door de ogen van
Aziz Kawak is sinds zijn zeventiende bezig met fotografie, bijna twee jaar nu. Na de oorlog in Syrië ontvlucht te zijn kwam hij aan in Nederland. Niet zeker van zijn toekomst kwam hij terecht in AZC Musselkanaal. Tussen alle dorpen en velden en de lokale bevolking, voelde hij zich niet thuis of welkom. Samen met zijn familie verhuisde hij naar Utrecht. Langzaam kwam hij hier in contact met zijn omgeving. Tijdens deze avond vertelt Aziz over zijn ervaringen in Nederland en hoe dankzij Utrecht zijn perceptie van Nederland langzaam veranderde.
Aziz is nog jong, maar erg getalenteerd. Op verbeeldende wijze legde hij zijn verhaal vast. De foto’s worden ondersteund door zijn verhaal. Wil jij meer weten over zowel het verleden als de toekomst van Aziz?

From his 17th Aziz Kawak is busy with photography, almost two years now. After having fled the war in Syria he arrived in Holland. Insecure about his future he arrived in refugee center Musselkanaal. He didn’t feel welcome in this strange place surrounded by villages, fields and the local inhabitants. Together with his familie he moved to Utrecht. Slowely he started to connect to his surroundings. During this evening Aziz will talk about his experiences in the Netherlands and how Utrecht slowly changed his perception of the Netherlands.
Aziz is still young, but very talented. Het captured his story in an evocative manner. The photo’s are guided by his story. Do you want to know more about the past and future of Aziz?
